How much do you know about Bell’s Palsy?

-Bell’s Palsy is a form of temporary facial paralysis that can affect a person’s daily function, communication with others, self-esteem, and quality of life.

-It occurs when the nerve that controls movement on 1 side of the face becomes inflamed.

-In 70% of cases, patients with complete facial paralysis (and 94% of patients with partial paralysis) recover within 6 months.

-A physical therapist can prescribe exercises designed specifically to strengthen the muscle of the face and help to regain normal function.

***Contact your physician to refer you to physical therapy for a full evaluation as soon as symptoms begin for immediate attention and a quicker recovery!***
