Therapist Thursday Spotlight!
Meet Katie Benson! Katie is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and works in multiple locations throughout our clinic.
Katie is a native of McPherson, KS. She received her Bachelor of Science from Kansas State University (KSU) in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2014 and her Master of Science in Family Studies and Human Services with a specialty in Speech-Language Pathology in 2016 from KSU as well.
While at KSU, Katie worked as a graduate teaching assistant participating in research involving communication development in young children. Her clinical experiences includes acute medical, inpatient rehabilitation and schools and she is interested in working with patients from birth through adulthood.
Her interests include pursuing a certification in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program, a therapy program designed to improve voice quality and loudness specifically for patients with Parkinson’s disease, as well as VitalStim which is a therapy technique designed to improve swallowing function. In her free time, Katie enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
